Nita "Mega Murray" Strauss on guitars
We asked the mesmerizing Nita Strauss a few questions and her answers are quite revealing…
How do you prepare for a show?
Have a drink to relax and warm up carefully.
What has been your most memorable performance?
Probably playing at Bamboozle West. Every LA musician's dream is to have a backstage pass that says "Angel Stadium!" Plus, I saw 2 ambulances pull up to the crowd at the front of the stage after we were done! Needless to say, it was an intense set.
What performer has been your greatest influence?
There are lots of artists that inspire me, but I would say that from the beginning of my career to now Steve Vai has been my greatest influence.
What is your biggest dream as a performer?
To make people happy all over the world by doing what I love.
What uber-famous bands or musicians would you like to play with?
Metallica! Any metal musician who says anything different is lying. It would be a dream come true to play with Iron Maiden, but I don't know how much they would like the support band playing all their hits.
Who is your musical soulmate or male counterpart?
Herman Li from DragonForce!
What is the funniest pickup line you've ever heard?
This was at a bar in the south of France. A guy said to me, "Excusez-moi, tu as un plan? Je me suis perdu dans tes yeux." Which means, "excuse me, do you have a map? I got lost in your eyes." As cheesy as that is, it almost worked, because French is a pretty sexy language!
What is your favorite thing to do after a show?
I like to have a little non distracted time to sit down and catch my breath. If there's time I break down my own gear, wipe down my guitars, and make sure all my cables, etc get put in the right place so there's no stress at the next show. Unfortunately that doesn't happen often! Not even the first part! I think we get more rushed after the show is over than before.
What's your favorite drink?
Right now I'm really into Hoegaarden biere blanche.
What is your favorite curse word or phrase?
I'm a big fan of using the same curse word multiple times in a row. Doesn't really matter what the word is. (i.e. "balls balls balls balls balls!")
What is your favorite thing about performing live?
I love the energy that gets exchanged between the fans and the performers. It's the greatest feeling in the world. If you've ever had the endorphin rush of a really great workout, imagine that times a thousand!
…AND WE LOVE THE ENERGY THAT NITA RADIATES WHEN SHE'S ON STAGE!
HERE'S TO A THOUSAND AWESOME PERFORMANCES!
DON'T MISS AN OPPORTUNITY TO FEEL THE ENERGY OF THIS BAND!
AND ALWAYS BRING A BUNCH OF FRIENDS TO ROCK OUT WITH THE IRON MAIDENS!!!
